Liquid Mercury's MERC Token Clears Key EU Regulatory Hurdle Under MiCA

Summary
Liquid Mercury has registered its MERC token's white paper with European authorities, fulfilling a key disclosure requirement under the MiCA regulation. The move opens the door for the token to be listed on regulated trading venues across the European Union.
Liquid Mercury announced it has completed a critical regulatory step for its MERC token, paving the way for its admission to trading on regulated platforms across the European Union. The company's crypto-asset white paper was submitted to the Central Bank of Ireland and has been officially added to the European Securities and Markets Authority's (ESMA) public register.
MiCA Compliance Unlocks EU Market Access
The submission fulfills the disclosure requirements mandated by the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), a landmark legal framework governing digital assets within the bloc. Under MiCA, issuers must publish a detailed white paper before a crypto-asset can be offered to the public or admitted for trading on a regulated venue.
With its white paper now on the ESMA register, MERC has met this prerequisite. This enables the token to be listed on exchanges and offered to investors throughout the EU and the European Economic Area (EEA), providing a clear regulatory foundation for its operations in the region.
A Strategic Move for Expansion
Company leadership framed the move as a commitment to transparency and a key part of its growth strategy. “With the white paper in the ESMA register, MERC has the regulatory grounding we need to keep pursuing listings, deeper liquidity, and broader access across the EU and beyond,” said Tony Saliba, CEO and founder of Liquid Mercury, in a statement.
AdLiquid Mercury provides institutional-grade trading infrastructure and is expanding into tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) through its Mercury RWA platform. The company noted that as this part of the business grows, so will the utility of MERC as a platform token.
The Impact of EU Regulation
The MiCA framework is one of the world's first comprehensive regulatory regimes for the crypto-asset industry, setting standards for market integrity, investor protection, and financial stability. For crypto projects, compliance is becoming essential for accessing the significant and regulated European market.
Liquid Mercury's successful registration highlights a growing trend of digital asset firms, including those based in the U.S., aligning with the EU's robust standards to secure a foothold and enhance their legitimacy in the global marketplace.
