Liquid Mercury Secures EU Trading Path for MERC Token with MiCA Filing

Liquid Mercury announced on Wednesday it has completed a key regulatory step for its native MERC token, paving the way for its admission to trading on regulated platforms across the European Union. The company's crypto-asset white paper was submitted to the Central Bank of Ireland and subsequently added to the European Securities and Markets Authority's (ESMA) official register.
MiCA Compliance Unlocks EU Market
The filing fulfills a core disclosure requirement under the EU's landmark Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation. This framework mandates that issuers of most crypto-assets publish a detailed white paper and register it with a national competent authority before the asset can be offered to the public or listed for trading within the EU and the broader European Economic Area (EEA).
By successfully placing its white paper on the ESMA register, Liquid Mercury has satisfied the necessary preconditions for MERC to be considered for listing by regulated crypto exchanges operating within the bloc. This move provides a clear regulatory pathway for expanding the token's availability and liquidity in one of the world's largest crypto markets.
AdStrategic Implications for Growth
Company leadership framed the compliance milestone as a foundational step for its European expansion strategy. "Our MiCA disclosure makes that commitment official," said Tony Saliba, CEO and founder of Liquid Mercury, in a statement. He added that the filing provides the "regulatory grounding we need to keep pursuing listings, deeper liquidity, and broader access across the EU and beyond."
The MERC token functions as a platform token for Liquid Mercury's suite of institutional-grade trading tools. The company noted that the token's role is set to expand as its business grows, particularly in the area of tokenized real-world assets (RWAs), such as sports investments.
