JPMorgan Hires Three Managing Directors to Expand Natural Resources Team

Summary
JPMorgan Chase & Co. has hired three senior bankers from rivals Morgan Stanley, Perella Weinberg, and Citigroup to strengthen its investment banking coverage of mining, energy M&A, and clean technology.
JPMorgan Chase & Co. has hired three senior bankers to its natural resources investment banking group, bringing in talent from key competitors to bolster its coverage across mining, energy, and renewables. The appointments were detailed in an internal memo reviewed by Bloomberg News.
Key Appointments
The new hires add managing director-level expertise in critical sectors and geographic hubs for the natural resources industry. The bank has brought on board:
- David Casson as head of North America mining investment banking. Based in Toronto, Casson joins from Morgan Stanley, where he was a managing director for metals and mining in the region.
- Christopher Dahan as a managing director on the natural resource M&A team. Dahan will be based in Houston and was previously a managing director at Perella Weinberg’s TPH & Co., where he advised on energy and infrastructure transactions.
- Greg Kantrowitz as a managing director covering power, renewables, and clean-tech. Based in New York, he was most recently the head of clean energy transition at Citigroup Inc.
AdStrategic Expansion
These hires signal a strategic push by JPMorgan to deepen its advisory capabilities in high-activity areas within the natural resources landscape. The addition of Casson strengthens the bank's presence in the vital North American mining market, while Dahan's appointment in Houston enhances its M&A advisory for the traditional energy and infrastructure sectors.
Kantrowitz's role specifically targets the rapidly growing clean energy transition space. This move reflects the increasing importance of renewables and clean technology in capital markets and M&A, as institutional investors and corporations focus on decarbonization and sustainable energy sources.
