Background

Swedish residential property company John Mattson reported a 4.1% year-over-year increase in rental revenue for the first half of the year and announced a new share buyback program. The company plans to repurchase shares worth up to SEK 100 million (Swedish kronor), according to a statement on Tuesday.

First-Half Financial Performance

For the six-month period, John Mattson's rental revenue reached SEK 349.50 million. The company also reported strong bottom-line results, with key figures including:

  • Net Income: SEK 315.20 million
  • Income from Property Management: SEK 139 million

Income from property management per share saw a notable increase of 30.3%. The company attributed this gain in part to a SEK 23 million dividend it received from the property company Turako during the period.

Capital Allocation and Growth Strategy

The newly announced share repurchase program signals a move to return capital to shareholders. It runs parallel to the company's active growth strategy, which saw investments of SEK 924.90 million during the first half.

John Mattson stated it is focused on supplementing its existing portfolio with new production and property acquisitions. The firm also recorded positive property value changes, which it attributed to value creation in its project development pipeline and realized gains from recent property purchases.
