Italian Stocks Advance as Financial and Leisure Shares Outweigh Energy Declines

Summary
Italy's benchmark stock index closed higher on Monday, lifted by gains in the financial, travel, and healthcare sectors, which helped offset a significant slump in energy stocks amid falling oil prices.
Italian equities finished Monday's trading session in positive territory, with the benchmark Investing.com Italy 40 index rising 0.45%. The advance was driven by broad strength across several key sectors, even as commodity markets exerted downward pressure on energy-related shares.
Sector Divergence
Gains were led by the Travel & Leisure, Financials, and Healthcare sectors, according to market data from Investing.com. The positive sentiment was reflected in the overall market breadth on the Milan Stock Exchange, where advancing stocks outnumbered declining ones by a margin of 423 to 284, with 52 issues ending the session unchanged.
However, the energy sector faced significant headwinds. The declines in major oil and gas companies coincided with a sharp drop in global crude prices. Crude oil for September delivery fell 6.73% to $83.30 a barrel, while Brent oil for October delivery dropped 5.63% to $86.52 a barrel.
