IonQ Stock Rises on Upgraded Revenue Guidance Ahead of Investor Day

IonQ (NYSE: IONQ) shares rose sharply in pre-market trading after the quantum computing company issued substantially higher revenue guidance for the full year 2026. The upgraded forecast is a direct result of the company's recent acquisition of SkyWater Technology.
Upgraded Financial Outlook
IonQ announced it now expects full-year 2026 revenue to be in the range of $450 million to $460 million. According to the company, this represents a significant increase from its previous outlook and reflects the financial integration of SkyWater Technology.
The updated guidance incorporates SkyWater’s projected financial contributions following the completion of the $1.8 billion acquisition on July 31, 2026. The forecast also accounts for the elimination of estimated intercompany revenues that existed under a previous commercial agreement between the two firms.
Investor Day Catalyst
Adding to the momentum, the revised guidance was released on the morning of IonQ’s Investor Day, held at the New York Stock Exchange. The event is expected to provide investors with a detailed look at the combined company's long-term strategic vision and capital allocation plans.
AdPresentations from Chairman and CEO Niccolo De Masi, COO and CFO Inder Singh, and SkyWater CEO Thomas Sonderman are highly anticipated by analysts and investors seeking clarity on multi-year financial targets.
Market Reaction
The stock surged 5.6% in pre-open trading, according to Investing.com data. The move was a company-specific event, standing in contrast to the broader market, where the S&P 500 edged lower and the Nasdaq was flat.
The positive investor reaction builds on an already bullish sentiment from the analyst community, with a reported 44 out of 52 covering analysts rating the stock a "buy." No comparable catalysts from quantum computing peers, such as Rigetti Computing or D-Wave Quantum, appeared to influence the move.
