Background

Shares of quantum computing firm IonQ (NYSE:IONQ) gained 5.8% on Tuesday after the company raised its full-year 2026 revenue guidance following the completion of its acquisition of SkyWater Technology. The revised outlook suggests management has increased confidence in the financial performance of the newly combined company.

Updated Financial Outlook

IonQ announced it now expects full-year 2026 revenue to be in the range of $450 million to $460 million. According to the company, this new forecast incorporates financial contributions from SkyWater Technology starting from the acquisition's closing date of July 31, 2026.

The updated figures have been adjusted to eliminate estimated intercompany revenues that existed under the previous commercial agreement between the two firms. The announcement was made as IonQ prepared for its first joint Investor Day.

Strategic Rationale

Company executives attributed the stronger forecast to the strategic benefits of the merger. IonQ Chairman and CEO Niccolo de Masi said the guidance highlights both the "market traction" of its quantum platform and the "foundational manufacturing scale" provided by SkyWater.

De Masi added that the integration accelerates the company's roadmap toward achieving commercial-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computing. CFO and COO Inder Singh described the release of the first combined guidance as a "pivotal step" that demonstrates the "immediate financial and operational strength" of the unified organization.
