Background

Shares of Integra LifeSciences Holdings (NASDAQ: IART) plunged on Monday after the company cut its full-year financial outlook, citing prolonged operational disruptions from a flood at its Cincinnati manufacturing facility.

The stock fell more than 16% in morning trading after the medical technology firm released preliminary third-quarter results and revised guidance that fell short of analyst expectations.

Guidance Cut and Facility Disruption

Integra now projects full-year 2026 revenue between $1.634 billion and $1.654 billion, a reduction from its prior range of $1.654 billion to $1.695 billion. The company also lowered its adjusted earnings per share (EPS) forecast to a range of $2.30 to $2.40, down from $2.40 to $2.50. Both revised forecasts miss Wall Street consensus estimates, which stood at approximately $1.67 billion in revenue and $2.46 in EPS.

The downgrade is a direct result of a July flooding event at its Cincinnati facility. The company stated the plant is not expected to return to full manufacturing capacity until the second quarter of 2027. The disruption is estimated to have reduced third-quarter revenue by approximately $7 million, with a further impact of $15 million to $20 million expected in the fourth quarter.

"Our third quarter results were impacted by the July flooding event at our Cincinnati facility," said CEO Stuart Essig in a statement. Essig also noted that Integra expects insurance recoveries to offset a "substantial portion" of the earnings impact.

Debt Refinancing Adds to Concerns

Compounding investor concerns, Integra also announced a proposed $600 million seven-year Senior Secured Term Loan B. The company intends to use the proceeds to refinance existing debt.

According to CFO Lea Knight, the move is designed to "extend maturities and maintain financial flexibility." However, the disclosure of additional leverage weighed on market sentiment amid the negative operational update.

Market Context

The sharp sell-off in Integra's shares was a pronounced, company-specific event that contrasted with a positive day for the broader market. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite both posted gains, buoyed by economic data that eased concerns about further Federal Reserve interest rate hikes. The combination of a significant guidance miss, a prolonged recovery timeline for a key facility, and a new debt issuance created a confluence of negative factors for investors.
