Investor sentiment also appeared to improve, as the India VIX, a measure of expected market volatility, fell by 4.35% to 12.14.
Sector and Stock Movers
AdBanking and manufacturing firms were among the session's top performers. On the Nifty 50, Axis Bank Ltd. was the leading gainer, rising 2.93% to close at 1,221.30. It was followed by Asian Paints Ltd., which added 2.27%, and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., which was up 1.59%.
Conversely, shares of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. were among the worst performers, falling 1.68% to a three-year low of 290.05 on the NSE. Other notable laggards included Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd., which declined 1.57%, and IT major Infosys Ltd., which slipped 1.55%.
Broader Market Context
In commodities, prices for crude oil retreated, with November futures for WTI Crude falling 1.86% to $92.85 a barrel. Gold futures for December delivery moved higher, gaining 1.06% to $4,343.75 per troy ounce. In currency markets, the USD/INR pair saw a slight decline of 0.12%.
