IMF Approves $690 Million Disbursement to Ukraine Following Program Review

The International Monetary Fund's board on Monday approved an immediate disbursement of approximately $690 million to Ukraine following the completion of a review of the country's financing arrangement. This latest payment brings the total funds provided to Ukraine under its current IMF program to about $2.2 billion.
Program Performance and Economic Stability
The disbursement is part of a larger $8.1 billion loan program designed to support Ukraine's economy. In a statement, the IMF noted that Ukraine has successfully maintained macroeconomic and financial stability despite the ongoing war with Russia.
The Fund assessed Ukraine's program performance as "broadly satisfactory." According to the review, the country met all quantitative performance criteria and indicative targets for the end of March.
AdWeakening Outlook and External Pressures
Despite the stable performance, the IMF cautioned that Ukraine's economic outlook has weakened. The Fund attributed this deterioration to intensified Russian attacks on critical infrastructure and spillover effects from the conflict in the Middle East.
As a result of these pressures, Ukraine missed a key target for the end of June. The IMF reported that the country's net international reserves fell short of the goal, partly due to the impact of the Middle East conflict.
