Helios Towers Lifts Full-Year Guidance After Q2 Tenancy Growth Surges Past Estimates

Summary
The telecommunications infrastructure company raised its 2026 and 2027 earnings outlook after adding more than double the expected number of tenancies in the second quarter, driven by strong performance in key African markets.
Helios Towers Plc has raised its earnings guidance for 2026 and 2027 following a second quarter that saw the company significantly outperform operational expectations. The firm's tenancy additions more than doubled consensus estimates, signaling robust demand for its infrastructure.
Second-Quarter Highlights
The company reported strong operational and financial results for the second quarter of 2026, according to a research note from Jefferies. The performance was underpinned by substantial growth in its customer base.
- Tenancy Additions: Helios added 1,105 tenancies, far exceeding the consensus estimate of 487.
- Site Growth: The expansion included 278 new tower sites and 827 colocations, where multiple tenants use a single tower.
- Revenue and Profit: Revenue grew 10.5% year-over-year, while earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) increased by 13.4%.
- Margin Expansion: The company's EBITDA margin expanded by 140 basis points to 54.7%, indicating improved profitability.
Growth was particularly strong in Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The increased activity lifted the company's tenancy ratio, a key metric of asset utilization, by 0.15 times from the prior year to 2.3 times.
Upgraded Financial Outlook
AdFollowing the strong quarterly performance, Helios Towers increased its full-year 2026 earnings guidance by $5 million and its 2027 forecast by more than $10 million.
In response, analysts at Jefferies raised their own forecasts, increasing their 2026 EBITDA estimate by approximately $5 million to $528 million. The firm also lifted its 2027 EBITDA forecast by around $10 million to $596 million. Jefferies now anticipates Helios will add 1,250 sites and 3,775 tenants for the full year in 2026.
Investor Metrics
The company's financial health was further demonstrated by its cash generation and investment returns. Recurring free cash flow for the quarter was $96.1 million, bolstered by higher operating profit and a greater working capital inflow compared to the same period last year.
On a last-twelve-months basis, Helios Towers reported a return on invested capital (ROIC) of 14.4%, a key measure of how efficiently the company is using its capital to generate profits.
