Background

Gulf stock markets ended Sunday's session with mixed results, as heightened geopolitical tensions between the United States and Iran prompted investor caution across the region.

Geopolitical Tensions Escalate

Investor sentiment was heavily influenced by recent military developments. U.S. Central Command confirmed on Saturday it had struck three Iranian tankers, an action it described as a response to recent ballistic missile attacks on two U.S. Navy warships. According to Investing.com, the conflict has reached a stalemate, with diplomatic efforts stalling after a ceasefire collapsed in June.

Iran has reportedly pledged to counter U.S. sanctions and warned of a "painful response" to any further military action. This escalation has created significant uncertainty, leading to a cautious trading environment for regional equities.
