Frequency Electronics Stock Surges Over 30% on Record Q1 Earnings and Revenue Beat

Shares of Frequency Electronics (FEIM) surged 30.5% in pre-market trading after the company reported record-breaking fiscal first-quarter 2027 results that significantly surpassed analyst expectations.
Record-Breaking Quarter
Frequency Electronics announced late Thursday that its revenue for the quarter ended July 31, 2026, reached an all-time high of $23.5 million. This figure represents a 70% increase year-over-year and a 52% sequential rise, according to the company's report.
On the bottom line, adjusted earnings per share (EPS) came in at $0.41, beating the consensus estimate of $0.29 by approximately 41%. The company also saw significant improvements in profitability, with its gross margin expanding to 45.8% and its operating margin reaching 22%.
Strong Demand and Future Outlook
The report highlighted strong forward-looking indicators, with the company's funded backlog climbing to a record $129 million, up 82% from the previous year. A book-to-bill ratio of 1.76:1 signals that new orders are substantially outpacing current shipments, suggesting continued revenue momentum.
AdManagement attributed the robust demand to its satellite, U.S. government, and defense programs. The company noted that one customer on a secure military communications contract had requested a more than 50% increase in monthly output. Based on this strong performance and backlog, management expressed confidence in its ability to meet or exceed $150 million in annual revenue by fiscal 2029.
Market Reaction
The combination of a historic revenue beat, improved profitability, and strong revenue visibility from its backlog prompted a sharp re-rating of the stock. In pre-market trading, shares were approaching their 52-week high of $80.60. The company's debt-free balance sheet, bolstered by a July capital raise, further strengthened investor confidence.
The significant company-specific catalyst overshadowed a modestly positive broader market, where major U.S. indices were attempting to stabilize after several sessions of losses. The surge in FEIM's stock was driven entirely by its fundamental performance and outlook.
