Figure Technology Named Top Fintech Pick by Needham on Strong Loan Volume

Summary
Needham reiterated its Buy rating and $55 price target on Figure Technology after the company reported June and Q2 loan volumes that significantly surpassed analyst and company forecasts.
Needham analysts have reiterated Figure Technology Solutions (FIGR) as their top pick in the financial technology sector, citing significantly stronger-than-expected operating metrics for June. The investment firm maintained its Buy rating and $55 price target for the company, which remains on its Conviction List.
Loan Volume Exceeds Expectations
The endorsement follows a report on Figure's operational performance, which showed substantial growth in its consumer loan marketplace. The results surpassed both Needham's estimates and the company's own guidance for the period.
Key performance metrics for the second quarter include:
- June consumer loan marketplace volume: $1.519 billion, a 155% year-over-year increase and above Needham's $1.357 billion estimate.
- Total Q2 marketplace volume: $4.259 billion, beating the high end of the company’s guidance range of $3.4 billion to $4.1 billion.
Needham Upgrades Financial Forecasts
In response to the strong results, Needham raised its earnings estimates for Figure Technology. The firm attributed the outperformance to favorable conditions for home equity lines of credit (HELOCs), solid underlying asset performance, and the company’s focus on execution.
AdThe firm's updated projections are:
- Earnings per share (EPS): Raised to $0.90 for 2026 and $1.15 for 2027, up from previous estimates of $0.87 and $1.10, respectively.
- Revenue: Increased to $841.5 million for 2026 and $1.034 billion for 2027.
Strategic Moves and Future Catalysts
Needham analysts also highlighted several potential growth drivers beyond the core HELOC business. Emerging asset classes, including auto loans, small and medium business loans, and DSCR (Debt Service Coverage Ratio) loans, are beginning to contribute to growth.
The pending acquisition of Kiavi was noted as a significant potential catalyst, which Needham expects to be highly accretive to 2027 earnings. To help fund the deal, Figure Technology recently priced a $600 million offering of 8.5% senior notes due 2031, with proceeds also designated for general corporate purposes.
