Endava Shares Drop 10% After CFO Placed on Leave Amid Accounting Investigation

Summary
The technology services provider announced CFO Mark Thurston was placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into the accounting treatment of certain customer and supplier agreements.
Shares of Endava plc (NYSE:DAVA) plunged 10% in after-hours trading on Monday after the technology services firm announced it placed its Chief Financial Officer on administrative leave and launched an internal accounting investigation.
CFO on Leave Amid Probe
Endava disclosed that its CFO, Mark Thurston, was placed on leave pending the outcome of an investigation being conducted by independent outside counsel. The probe was initiated at the recommendation of the Board’s Audit Committee.
The investigation centers on concerns related to the company's "accounting treatment of certain customer and supplier agreements and related matters," according to the company's statement. Endava did not provide further specifics on the nature of the agreements or a timeline for the investigation's completion.
In the interim, Conor McShane of the consulting firm AlixPartners LLP has been appointed as Interim Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately.
AdMarket Impact and Outlook
The abrupt news of a high-level departure coupled with an accounting probe creates significant uncertainty for investors, often signaling potential governance issues or financial irregularities. The sharp sell-off in Endava's stock reflects the market pricing in these heightened risks.
Despite the investigation, Endava stated that its management team remains focused on business execution, client delivery, and its AI-native strategy. The Board also affirmed its commitment to acting in the best interests of the company and its shareholders.
The company said it still intends to publish its fiscal fourth-quarter and full-year 2026 financial results by November 2, 2026, and will announce the date for its earnings call once it is scheduled.
