  • Competition Period: July 6, 2026 – August 10, 2026

This year's competition introduces several new mechanics, including a "Mystery Box" deposit bonus, weekly Profit and Loss (P&L) leaderboards, and a "Flash Arena" that offers reward multipliers for trading short-dated options. The goal is to create a more dynamic experience that rewards different styles of trading activity.

"The Island brings together everything we want this competition to be: bigger scale, stronger participation loops, and a structure that rewards how active options traders actually engage," said Luuk Strijers, Senior Director from Deribit by Coinbase. He described the event as the firm's "most ambitious retail trading campaign yet."

Market Context

The partnership between Deribit, a major institutional-grade crypto derivatives platform, and SignalPlus, a provider of advanced trading tools, highlights a strategic focus on the sophisticated retail trading segment. By gamifying trading activity, the firms aim to increase liquidity and platform engagement.

Chris Yu, CEO and Co-Founder of SignalPlus, stated, "Together, we are creating a more immersive experience for sophisticated retail traders." The competition's complex structure, with its various arenas and reward tiers, is tailored to experienced market participants rather than novices.
