Cognizant Shares Rise 7% on Launch of Dedicated EMEA AI Unit

Summary
Shares of Cognizant Technology Solutions (NASDAQ:CTSH) climbed sharply on Tuesday after the IT services firm announced a new division to help clients in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa scale their artificial intelligence initiatives.
Shares of Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp. (NASDAQ:CTSH) surged as much as 7% on Tuesday following the company's announcement of a new, dedicated artificial intelligence unit for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region.
New Unit to Accelerate AI Deployment
The EMEA AI Unit is designed to help enterprise clients move beyond the experimental phase of AI and achieve measurable business outcomes, according to Cognizant's statement. The division combines advisory, engineering, and delivery services to build and manage AI solutions that are independent of any single platform, model, or cloud provider.
At the core of the new unit is the company's "Frontier Deployed Engineering" offering, which provides three service models:
- Foundation: Helps organizations establish their AI strategy and governance.
- Accelerate: Focuses on deploying high-value AI use cases into production.
- Transform: Supports broader business reinvention through multi-agent delivery teams.
AdStrategic Rationale
Cognizant said the unit is already engaged with clients, including a European online fashion retailer where it is using an "AI factory model" to shorten development cycles from months to days. It is also working with a global pharmaceutical company to apply multi-agent AI systems to research and development operations, spanning drug discovery to regulatory preparation.
"Across EMEA, many organizations are enthusiastic about AI but are still working out how to turn that momentum into real business value," said Manoj Mehta, President of EMEA at Cognizant. He added that the unit reflects Cognizant’s strategy to bring together the expertise needed to move clients "from pilots to payoff."
The company emphasized that its approach allows clients to select solutions that fit their operational needs while addressing regional requirements such as data sovereignty and regulatory standards.
