Shares of The Cheesecake Factory (NASDAQ: CAKE) climbed as much as 7% to an intraday record high on Friday after Citi raised its price target on the restaurant operator to $90 from a previous $76, marking the highest target for the company on Wall Street.

Analyst Cites Multiple Growth Drivers

In a note to clients, Citi analyst Jon Tower attributed the optimistic outlook to several positive factors, with the company's rewards program seen as a key catalyst. The analyst believes the program could be sufficient to drive customer traffic trends into positive territory.

Citi, which maintained its Buy rating on the stock, also highlighted other tailwinds supporting the company's growth prospects, including:

  • A relevant and flexible menu
  • A more engaging social media strategy
  • Growing appeal with younger consumers
  • The resurgence of foot traffic in malls

Valuation Outlook

The analyst suggested that continued positive performance could lead to a re-evaluation of the stock's worth. "We believe a firmer view of the SSS [Same-Store Sales] trajectory would warrant the valuation range re-setting higher," Tower wrote in the note.

This indicates that if The Cheesecake Factory can demonstrate consistent growth in sales at its existing locations, investors may be willing to pay a higher premium for the stock.
