Cerebras to Supply 100-Megawatt AI System to Cloud Startup Gimlet Labs

Summary
AI hardware firm Cerebras Systems will supply its CS-4 systems to cloud computing startup Gimlet Labs in a deal focused on high-speed AI inference. The hardware, with a capacity of roughly 100 megawatts, will be delivered over the next two years.
Cerebras Systems has agreed to supply AI chips and hardware to cloud computing startup Gimlet Labs, providing systems with a capacity to consume approximately 100 megawatts of power, the companies announced on Monday. The deal underscores a growing market focus on specialized hardware for high-performance artificial intelligence tasks.
A Focus on AI Inference
Gimlet Labs plans to utilize the Cerebras hardware for its cloud computing business, specifically targeting companies and startups building products centered on AI. According to Gimlet CEO Zain Asgar, the infrastructure will be optimized for speedy AI inference, the process where a trained model generates responses or predictions.
This capability is critical for applications requiring rapid processing, such as cybersecurity, voice applications, and financial analysis. Asgar told Reuters that Gimlet intends to use the hardware to run frontier models—the most advanced AI models—which demand enormous computing power to operate efficiently. Gimlet expects to make the Cerebras hardware available on its cloud platform in 2027.
AdStrategic Implications and Market Context
Cerebras will supply its new CS-4 systems, unveiled over the summer, over a period of one to two years, according to its CEO, Andrew Feldman. He stated the deal is "further validation from Cerebras ... of how easy it is to deploy, even in heterogeneous environments," referring to the integration of Cerebras hardware alongside systems from other manufacturers.
The agreement highlights the increasing industry demand for powerful inference capabilities, a segment recognized by major players like OpenAI and Nvidia. Earlier this year, Cerebras secured a deal to supply chips to OpenAI. The financial terms of the deal between Cerebras and Gimlet were not disclosed. Gimlet will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the systems upon delivery.
