Bybit Launches Crypto-Linked Payment Card in Peru

Cryptocurrency exchange Bybit announced Tuesday the launch of its Bybit Card in Peru, a move designed to bridge digital asset holdings with everyday consumer spending. The virtual card allows Peruvian users to make payments directly from their Bybit account balances at merchants globally.
Product Features and Incentives
The Bybit Card is a virtual-only offering with no issuance or annual fees, according to the company's announcement. It features dual-currency functionality, supporting transactions in both Peruvian Soles (PEN) for domestic purchases and US Dollars (USD) for international spending.
To encourage adoption, Bybit is introducing a promotional welcome package for new cardholders in Peru. The key features and offers include:
- A welcome bonus of up to 120 USDT for new users who complete identity verification and deposit a minimum of 100 USDT equivalent.
- Tiered cashback rewards ranging from 2% to 10% on eligible purchases.
- Full rebates on certain digital subscriptions, such as Netflix and Spotify, subject to terms.
AdStrategic Rationale and Market Context
Bybit's expansion into Peru targets the country's digitally adept and mobile-first population. The company views the launch as a significant step in its broader strategy to increase its footprint across emerging markets in Latin America.
"Peru’s financial landscape has undergone a quiet but meaningful transformation in recent years as its young, mobile-first population has embraced digital payments," said Patricio Mesri, Country Manager for Spanish-speaking Latin America at Bybit. He added that the card allows users to "spend PEN at home and spend USD anywhere when they explore the world, without friction."
This initiative reflects a broader trend among cryptocurrency platforms to enhance the real-world utility of digital assets, moving beyond trading and investment to facilitate daily transactions. Bybit, which states it is the world's second-largest crypto exchange by trading volume, reports that over 3 million users globally use its card.
