BTSE Group Launches Regulated Crypto Exchange in Indonesia via Joint Venture

BTSE Group, a global digital asset technology firm, has officially launched BTSE Indonesia, a regulated cryptocurrency exchange, following a joint venture with PT Aset Kripto Internasional. The move establishes a licensed foothold for the company in one of Asia's most rapidly expanding digital asset markets, according to a company announcement on Wednesday.
Strategic Expansion and Regulatory Approval
The launch was facilitated by the rebranding of NVX, an existing regulated digital asset platform in Indonesia. Under the new joint venture, BTSE Indonesia is licensed by the Indonesia Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan/OJK). This allows it to operate as a regulated Digital Financial Assets and Crypto Assets Trading Operator (PAKD).
This regulatory approval is significant as it provides users with greater assurance through mandated customer asset protection and compliance with anti-money laundering regulations. The license also enables BTSE Indonesia to integrate with local banks and payment gateways, a critical step for seamless market operations.
Joint Venture Structure and Market Impact
The partnership delineates clear roles to leverage both global and local strengths. BTSE Group will provide the core trading infrastructure, technology, and deep liquidity, while the local entity, BTSE Indonesia, will manage user acquisition, marketing, and strategic partnerships within the country.
AdA key capability unlocked by the license is the ability to offer services in the local currency. This includes:
- Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) deposits and withdrawals.
- IDR-denominated trading pairs.
- The potential to introduce additional regulated products, such as futures trading, in the future.
Executive Commentary
Executives from both firms highlighted the strategic importance of the collaboration. "Indonesia has everything it takes to be Asia’s next major crypto hub; the population, the demand, and now the regulatory framework," said Jeff Mei, Chief Operating Officer of BTSE Group. "What it needs now is the right combination of global infrastructure and local expertise. That’s exactly what this joint venture delivers."
Stephanie Kusnadi, Chief Strategy Officer of BTSE Indonesia, added that the venture is positioned to deliver a trading platform that is "secure, competitive, and fully compliant with local regulations." She noted the goal is to bring global standards to local users and contribute to the growth of Indonesia's digital economy.
