BTSE Group Launches Regulated Crypto Exchange in Indonesia via Joint Venture

Summary
Global crypto firm BTSE Group has launched a regulated digital asset exchange in Indonesia through a joint venture, aiming to capture a share of one of Asia's fastest-growing crypto markets. The new entity, BTSE Indonesia, is licensed by the country's financial authority and will offer trading in the local currency.
Global digital asset firm BTSE Group announced its expansion into the Indonesian market with the launch of a regulated cryptocurrency exchange, BTSE Indonesia. The new platform is the result of a joint venture with PT Aset Kripto Internasional and involves the rebranding of NVX, an existing regulated Indonesian digital asset platform.
Strategic Market Entry
The joint venture is structured to combine global infrastructure with local market expertise. BTSE Group will provide the core trading technology, liquidity, and platform infrastructure, while its Indonesian partner will manage user acquisition, marketing, and local partnerships, according to the company's announcement on July 3, 2026.
"Indonesia has everything it takes to be Asia’s next major crypto hub; the population, the demand, and now the regulatory framework," said Jeff Mei, Chief Operating Officer of BTSE Group. He added that the venture delivers the "right combination of global infrastructure and local expertise."
Regulatory Status and Capabilities
AdBTSE Indonesia has secured a license from the Indonesia Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan/OJK), permitting it to operate as a regulated Digital Financial Assets and Crypto Assets Trading Operator (PAKD). This regulatory approval is crucial for building user trust and ensuring compliance with local laws.
Key capabilities enabled by the OJK license include:
- Collaboration with local Indonesian banks and payment gateways.
- Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) deposit, withdrawal, and conversion services.
- The ability to offer IDR-denominated trading pairs.
- A framework for potentially introducing new products, such as futures trading, subject to regulatory guidelines.
Stephanie Kusnadi, Chief Strategy Officer of BTSE Indonesia, stated the new platform is "uniquely positioned to deliver a trading platform that is secure, competitive, and fully compliant with local regulations."
