SÃO PAULO – Brazilian stocks finished lower at the close of trading on Wednesday, with the benchmark Bovespa index falling by 0.79%. The decline was led by losses across the Real Estate, Industrials, and Consumption sectors.
Among the session's worst performers were companies in the construction and real estate industry. Cury Construtora e Incorporadora S saw the steepest drop, falling 7.85%. It was followed by Direcional Engenharia SA, which declined 6.19%, and MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA, which was down 5.84%, hitting a 52-week low.
In contrast, some companies posted significant gains. Petroreconcavo SA was a top performer, rising 6.04%. Natura & Co SA added 5.59%, and Ultrapar Participacoes SA closed 4.11% higher.
AdOverall market breadth was negative on the B3 Stock Exchange, with 598 stocks declining compared to 322 that advanced, while 41 ended unchanged. The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility index, which gauges the implied volatility of Bovespa options, fell 1.90%.
In commodities trading, crude oil futures for August delivery rose, while gold futures for the same month declined. In currency markets, the USD/BRL pair was up 0.09% to 5.15.
