Bloom Energy Stock Rises After Company Refutes Short-Seller Report

Shares of Bloom Energy (NYSE:BE) rose as much as 6% in Thursday morning trading after the fuel cell maker forcefully rejected claims made in a short-seller report. The company issued a statement addressing allegations published on July 8, 2026, by Hunterbrook Media LLC.
Company Rebuts Core Allegations
Bloom Energy described the report's claims regarding its financial results and accounting as "false and misleading." The company stated that it stands by the accuracy of its audited financial statements and directed investors to its official filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, including its most recent Forms 10-K and 10-Q.
The company also countered allegations concerning its supply chain for scandium oxide, a critical material used in its fuel cells. According to Bloom's statement, its supply is not dependent on China and is sufficient to meet both current demand and its existing backlog.
Production Capacity Affirmed
AdBloom Energy further stated it has visibility into its supply chain to support the production of 25 gigawatts of fuel cells annually and has plans to expand that capacity. The company asserted that it does not rely on China to scale its scandium oxide supply for future growth.
Market Context
The rebuttal appeared to restore some investor confidence, prompting the stock's upward move. The publisher of the report, Hunterbrook Media, had disclosed that it may hold positions that would profit from a decline in Bloom Energy's stock price, a common practice for activist short-sellers.
