Other notable decliners on the index included biotech firm Argen-X (EBR:ARGX), which fell 3.74%, and stainless steel producer Aperam SA (AS:APAM), which was down 2.12%.
Pockets of Strength Emerge
Despite the index's negative performance, some individual stocks posted significant gains. Specialty materials company Syensqo SA (EBR:SYENS) was the top gainer, rising 6.30% to end the day at 75.95.

- Umicore SA (EBR:UMI), which added 4.57%.
- Melexis NV (EBR:MLXS), which climbed 2.54%.
Overall market breadth on the Brussels Stock Exchange was narrowly positive, with 44 stocks advancing compared to 40 that declined, while 16 finished the day unchanged.

In the wider financial markets, commodities saw mixed trading. Gold Futures for August delivery rose, while crude oil prices fell, with September WTI Crude futures dipping 0.50% to $84.04 a barrel. In currency markets, the euro gained against the U.S. dollar, with the EUR/USD pair up 0.53% to 1.15, as the US Dollar Index Futures fell 0.89%.
