Aston Martin Secures $736 Million Debt Financing Led by HPS Investment Partners

Aston Martin announced on Wednesday it has secured £550 million ($735.57 million) in new debt financing to bolster its financial position. The deal is led by funds managed by HPS Investment Partners, a credit investment firm owned by BlackRock.
Financing Details
The financing package is structured to provide both immediate and future capital. According to the company's statement, the deal includes:
- A £450 million senior secured term loan.
- A £100 million delayed draw term loan, providing future access to capital.
- An additional £100 million in permitted debt incurrence capacity.
This move is designed to provide the struggling automaker with crucial capital as it navigates a challenging market.
Impact on Liquidity
AdAston Martin said the financing will significantly strengthen its balance sheet. The company projects that the deal will increase its pro forma liquidity to approximately £340 million as of June 30.
Investors and analysts will be watching closely when the group publishes its half-year 2026 financial results, which are scheduled for release on July 29.
Context and Market Performance
The financing arrives at a critical time for the iconic British carmaker, known for its association with the James Bond film franchise. The company has been grappling with persistent cash burn and declining sales, which it has previously attributed to factors including U.S. tariffs and weak consumer demand in China.
These operational headwinds have been reflected in the company's market valuation. Shares in Aston Martin have fallen approximately 44% so far this year.
