Background

Arcadis NV has increased its full-year revenue growth forecast for 2026, citing a solid second-quarter performance that saw a significant increase in order intake and a record project backlog. The Netherlands-based design and engineering firm now anticipates low-single-digit organic net revenue growth for the year.

Second-Quarter Performance

The company reported a 2.2% year-over-year increase in organic net revenue for the second quarter. Arcadis also saw its operating EBITA margin improve slightly to 11.4%, up from 11.3% in the same period last year.

A key driver for the positive results was a 13.5% organic jump in order intake, which reached €1.1 billion. According to the company's update, this surge in new business pushed its project backlog to a record high, providing strong revenue visibility.

Updated Guidance and Outlook

Following the strong quarter, Arcadis upgraded its 2026 revenue guidance to low-single-digit organic growth. The company maintained its full-year operating EBITA margin target in a range of 11.7% to 12.0%.

Looking further ahead, Arcadis set new long-term targets, aiming for mid-single-digit organic net revenue growth annually from 2027 through 2029. The firm is also targeting a mid- to high-teens operating EBITDA margin by 2029.

Segment Highlights

Growth in the quarter was primarily fueled by the firm's Resilience and Mobility business segments. Key performance drivers included:

  • Resilience: Benefited from US water infrastructure projects, UK AMP8 initiatives, and German grid expansion work.
  • Mobility: Saw gains from rail and highway projects across North America and Europe.

Conversely, the Places segment posted a decline due to continued weakness in the Property & Investment business, particularly in Canada and China. Arcadis noted this was partially offset by robust demand from data center and pharmaceutical clients. The company attributed the overall margin improvement to portfolio mix changes, efficiency gains, and rightsizing measures.
