Anthropic Reportedly Targets IPO Before November Midterms at Potential $2 Trillion Valuation

Artificial intelligence company Anthropic is reportedly planning to launch its initial public offering roadshow as early as mid-October, with the goal of listing on a public exchange just before the U.S. midterm elections in November, according to sources familiar with the plans.
IPO Timeline Adjusted
The AI firm had initially been expected to file its public IPO prospectus as early as next week, a critical step in the offering process. However, that filing is now anticipated in late September, the sources said, cautioning that the timeline remains fluid and subject to change based on market conditions, regulatory review, and other preparations.
Such adjustments are common as companies navigate the complex process of going public. As part of its preparations, Anthropic is reportedly seeking to finalize a $15 billion revolving credit facility before proceeding with analyst meetings.
A Landmark Test for AI Market Appetite
The offering is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated market debuts in history and a major test of public investor appetite for the rapidly growing AI sector. Some investors believe the company could achieve a valuation of up to $2 trillion, which would make it one of the largest IPOs ever recorded.
AdThe potential listing follows the June public offering of Elon Musk's SpaceX, which achieved a record valuation of $1.77 trillion. Anthropic's IPO could coincide with potential offerings from other major AI players, including OpenAI, as investors seek public market exposure to the industry.
Underwriters and Process
A consortium of major banks, including Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, and Citigroup, is working with Anthropic on the offering, according to the sources. Following the finalization of its credit line, the company is expected to hold meetings with bank analysts involved in the deal.
Typically, companies leave several weeks between analyst meetings and the public prospectus filing. However, Anthropic is expected to move on a more compressed schedule, as analysts are said to be already deeply familiar with the company's business and prospects.
