Also Holding Shares Drop as Reaffirmed Guidance Disappoints Investors

Shares of Also Holding AG (ALSN) fell on Tuesday despite the Swiss technology distributor reporting strong first-half 2026 results, in a classic case of market expectations outpacing company guidance. The stock experienced a sharp intraday reversal, dropping 2.8% to close at CHF 199.8 after reaching a session high of CHF 210.
Strong Results Meet Tepid Reception
Before the market opened, Also Holding announced a 61% increase in first-half net profit to €69 million, according to its interim report. Revenue grew by 21% to €8.3 billion, fueled by surging demand for AI-related infrastructure, high-performance computing, and cloud services.
The company highlighted particularly strong performance in its cloud division, where revenue climbed 31% to €1.1 billion and the number of unique users grew 9% to 6 million. Despite these robust headline figures, the market's reaction was decisively negative.
Guidance at the Core of Sell-Off
AdThe primary driver for the stock's decline appears to be the company's decision to maintain, rather than raise, its full-year financial outlook. Also Holding reaffirmed its 2026 guidance, targeting an EBITDA of between €300 million and €340 million and a return on capital employed (ROCE) above 20%.
Investors, who had pushed the stock up significantly from its 52-week low of CHF 133.4, were seemingly anticipating an upgraded forecast following the strong first-half performance. With analyst consensus already factoring in the positive trends, the unchanged guidance prompted a "sell the news" reaction as traders locked in recent gains.
Market Context
The sell-off was specific to the company's earnings announcement and not driven by broader market sentiment. The Swiss Market Index (SMI) was projected to open slightly higher, and U.S. equity futures were also positive at the time of the report. This indicates that investors were reacting directly to the perceived gap between Also's strong operational results and its more conservative forward-looking guidance.
