Tech Sector Rises on AI, Cloud Deals
Alphabet shares gained approximately 2% after Google unveiled Gemini 4 Argon, its latest AI model. The company stated the model offers superior performance in coding and cybersecurity compared to rival offerings and at a lower cost. Access will be rolled out first to cybersecurity researchers, followed by paid API customers and subscribers before a broader public release.
Other technology companies also saw premarket gains on significant business agreements:
- Oracle (NYSE: ORCL) rose 1.6% following a Financial Times report that Tencent signed a $7 billion, five-year deal to access Oracle's advanced AI chips through its data centers in Southeast Asia.
- Synopsys (NASDAQ: SNPS) gained 2.5% after announcing a multiyear agreement with Amazon Web Services valued at over $1 billion. AWS will license Synopsys' chip design software and intellectual property for its custom processors.
Healthcare Stocks See Divergent Moves
AdZealand Pharma (NASDAQ: ZELA) shares fell 11.7% in premarket action. The decline came after its partner, Boehringer Ingelheim, announced that their dual glucagon/GLP-1 agonist, survodutide, met its primary endpoints in a Phase 3 trial for weight management. The study showed patients achieved up to a 13.1% average body-weight reduction over 76 weeks, compared to 3.1% for placebo.
In contrast, Monte Rosa Therapeutics (NASDAQ: GLUE) surged 20% ahead of its planned presentation of complete Phase 1 clinical results for its molecular glue degrader, MRT-8102. Meanwhile, Liquidia (NASDAQ: LQDA) shares dropped 5.2% after a Delaware federal court ruled that its inhaled therapy, YUTREPIA, infringed on a patent held by United Therapeutics.

Among other companies making significant premarket moves, Rocket Lab (NASDAQ: RKLB) shares climbed 5.2%. The space company announced the largest single commercial launch agreement in its history, a 20-mission contract with Tokyo-based Synspective.
Vicor (NASDAQ: VICR) jumped 10.8% after the power component manufacturer raised its third-quarter sequential revenue growth forecast to more than 30% from a prior outlook of more than 20%, citing higher-than-expected technology licensing royalties.
