According to Wu, the V900 is designed for training large-scale AI models and can be clustered in groups of up to 500,000 units. Alongside the new chip, Alibaba Cloud set an ambitious long-term goal to operate more than 20 gigawatts (GW) of global data center capacity by 2032.

Investors reacted positively to the developments, which affirm that Alibaba's AI strategy remains a core focus after tens of billions of dollars in investment. The company's Hong Kong-listed shares surged 3.7% to close at HK$116.80 on Tuesday.
The stock's move was also part of a broader rally in technology stocks. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index added 0.4% during the session, reportedly tracking overnight gains among U.S. peers.
