The losses were primarily driven by sell-offs in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Household Goods & Home Construction, and Mobile Telecommunications sectors, according to the report.

Despite the overall negative close, the mining and utilities sectors showed strength. Key performers on the day included:
- Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which rallied 3.18%.
- SSE PLC (LON:SSE), gaining 2.23%.
- Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RKT), which rose 2.09%.
AdOn the downside, homebuilders and telecommunication firms were among the biggest decliners:
- Airtel Africa Plc (LON:AAF) fell 3.34%, leading the laggards.
- Vistry Group PLC (LON:VTYV) declined 2.42%.
- Barratt Redrow PLC (LON:BTRW) was down 2.41%.
Broader Markets
In the commodities market, energy and precious metals saw gains. Crude oil for November delivery rose 2.28% to $91.42 a barrel, while the December Brent contract climbed 2.79% to $98.84 a barrel. Gold Futures for December delivery edged up 0.24%.
In currency markets, the British pound was slightly stronger against the U.S. dollar, with the GBP/USD pair up 0.21% to 1.33. The US Dollar Index Futures, which tracks the greenback against a basket of other currencies, was up a marginal 0.05% at 101.17.
