At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 index was down 2.79%, its lowest level in half a year. Market breadth was decidedly negative, with 509 stocks declining compared to just 120 advancers, while 17 remained unchanged, according to market data.

The downturn was driven by steep losses in key industries. The Leasing & Factoring, Metal Products & Machinery, and Banking sectors were among the hardest-hit, leading the broader market lower.

Currency and Commodity Context

In the foreign exchange market, the Turkish lira experienced modest pressure. The USD/TRY pair edged up 0.07% to 49.02, while the EUR/TRY pair rose 0.23% to 55.72.

Elsewhere, global commodity prices were largely positive. Crude oil for November delivery increased by 2.37% to $91.50 a barrel, and December Gold Futures advanced 0.30% to $4,192.17 per troy ounce.
