Background

Suedzucker AG (SZUG) shares gained on Thursday after the German food producer raised its financial outlook for the 2026/27 fiscal year, citing strong demand for biofuels and increased sales volumes in its specialty products division.

Upgraded Financial Forecast

The company announced it now projects full-year revenue to be in the range of €8.3 billion to €8.7 billion, up from a previous forecast of €8.1 billion to €8.5 billion. Suedzucker also lifted the lower end of its operating EBITDA guidance to €540 million from €480 million, while maintaining the upper end of the range at €680 million.

According to the company, the improved forecast is driven by its CropEnergies segment, which is benefiting from higher ethanol prices, as well as stronger sales volumes in its Special Products division.

Suedzucker's positive revision was accompanied by a bullish commodity outlook from Bank of America. The bank's research team on Thursday raised its global sugar price forecast for the 2026/27 agricultural year to $0.20 per pound, an approximate 18% increase from its prior estimate of $0.17 per pound.

The update also aligns with broader sector trends, as German biofuel peer Verbio reported higher annual sales in September, signaling sector-wide strength in biofuel demand. Investors are now looking ahead to Suedzucker's half-year results, scheduled for October 8, 2026, for confirmation of the earnings momentum.

Market Performance

Suedzucker shares traded as high as €12.18 during the session. The stock's advance came despite a mild headwind from broader equity markets, with major U.S. indices trading in negative territory. The share price continues its recovery from a 52-week low of €8.95, though it remains below its 52-week high of €13.53.
