Background

Streamex Corp. (NASDAQ: STEX) announced that its digital security, $GLDY, which is backed by physical gold and designed to generate a yield, is now accessible to accredited investors through traditional brokerage accounts. The move, announced on June 29, aims to bridge the gap between digital assets and mainstream investment platforms.

Bridging Traditional and Digital Finance

The new offering is a collaboration between three firms. Streamex issues the $GLDY security, while FINRA-member broker Siebert Financial, which oversees approximately $20 billion in client assets, will handle distribution. The asset's custody is managed by tZERO, a regulated digital securities platform.

This structure allows Siebert's financial advisors to offer the tokenized gold product to eligible clients without requiring them to set up crypto wallets or have prior blockchain experience. According to the company, this integration is a key step in making digital commodities more accessible to traditional investors.

Product Details and Investor Implications

$GLDY is a regulated security offered to verified accredited investors under Rule 506(c) of Regulation D. It is designed to provide direct exposure to gold while offering features common in digital finance.

Key features of the $GLDY security include:

  • Yield Generation: The security pays a variable yield of up to approximately 3.5% per year, distributed monthly.
  • In-Kind Payments: The yield is paid in additional gold-backed tokens, allowing an investor's holdings to compound over time.
  • Underlying Mechanism: Streamex states the yield is generated by lending the underlying physical gold to commercial users, such as jewelers and refiners.

"Putting $GLDY into a brokerage account is a major step... because it meets traditional investors exactly where they already are," said Henry McPhie, Co-Founder & CEO of Streamex, in a statement.

Market Context and Future Plans

This development follows the initial launch of $GLDY in February and its introduction to secondary trading on the Solana-based decentralized exchange Orca in May. While the brokerage channel is currently limited to accredited investors, Streamex has stated its intention to launch a retail version of the product.

The company plans for this future retail offering to be accessible to a broader audience and tradable on various decentralized exchanges. This strategy aligns with the growing market for tokenized real-world assets (RWAs), particularly on blockchains like Solana, which has seen a sharp increase in RWA volume in 2026, according to the announcement.
