Samsung Electro-Mechanics Stock Surges on Record AI-Driven Earnings

Shares of Samsung Electro-Mechanics surged on Wednesday after the electronics component maker reported record quarterly revenue and profit, fueled by booming demand for parts used in artificial intelligence infrastructure.
The company's stock jumped 8.3% to close at KRW 1,300,500 following the release of its third-quarter 2026 results, which investors rewarded decisively.
Record Earnings Fuel Rally
Samsung Electro-Mechanics announced its highest-ever quarterly results, with operating profit beating analyst expectations. The company's improved profitability was a key factor for investors.
Key third-quarter financial highlights include:
- Revenue: KRW 3.76 trillion, an increase of 30% year-over-year.
- Operating Profit: KRW 691 billion, a surge of 165% year-over-year.
- Operating Margin: Expanded sharply to 18.4%, signaling a significant improvement in earnings quality.
While revenue was marginally below consensus estimates, the substantial beat on operating profit underscored the company's successful shift toward higher-margin products.
AdAI Components Drive Growth
The record performance was primarily driven by the company's business segments directly exposed to the AI data center buildout. The package solutions division, which makes semiconductor package substrates for AI, saw revenue surge 58% from the previous year.
Similarly, the components division, which includes multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs), grew 36% year-over-year. This robust growth in AI-linked products more than compensated for a sequential decline in camera module revenue, highlighting a significant shift in the company's earnings drivers.
Broader Market Tailwinds
The rally in Samsung Electro-Mechanics' shares was amplified by bullish sentiment across the broader South Korean market. The benchmark KOSPI index surged nearly 6% on Wednesday, buoyed by a strong earnings report from peer chipmaker SK hynix, which also cited strong AI memory demand.
Reinforcing the positive outlook, Samsung Electro-Mechanics' management stated that demand for high-specification AI data center components is expected to remain strong into the fourth quarter. The company also noted its intention to expand long-term supply agreements with major global technology customers.
