Safran Stock Surges After Upbeat H1 Results and Raised Full-Year Guidance

Summary
The French aerospace firm reported first-half earnings that surpassed analyst expectations and lifted its 2026 forecast, driven by strong performance in its civil engine and aftermarket businesses.
Shares of Safran SA (SAF.PA) surged on Tuesday after the French aerospace and defense group reported first-half 2026 results that beat consensus estimates and raised its full-year financial outlook, citing strong demand in its civil aviation business.
Earnings Beat and Raised Outlook
Safran announced that its recurring operating income for the first six months of 2026 reached €3.24 billion, a 29% increase year-over-year. CEO Olivier Andriès stated that the company "delivered an outstanding first half in 2026, outperforming expectations and achieving record profitability with an 18.4% margin... and very strong cash generation of €2.6 billion."
Buoyed by the strong performance, Safran lifted its financial targets for the full year. The company now expects:
- Full-year recurring operating income of €6.4 billion to €6.5 billion, up from a prior range of €6.1 billion to €6.2 billion.
- Revenue growth of approximately 15%, an increase from the previous guidance of 12% to 15%.
Civil Aviation Drives Growth
AdThe robust results were primarily driven by exceptional performance in the company's civil engine division. Deliveries of its LEAP engines, used on popular narrow-body jets, reached 1,030 units in the first half, a 41% increase compared to the same period in 2025.
Furthermore, Safran's civil engine aftermarket services outperformed expectations. The company reported a sharp rise in spare parts sales, particularly for its widely used CFM56 engines, which benefited from a favorable mix of maintenance workscopes as global air travel continues to rebound.
Market Reaction and Shareholder Returns
Investors responded positively to the news, sending Safran's stock up 3.8% to €345.70 in trading. As a major constituent of the CAC 40, the move contributed to gains in the broader French equity index.
The strong earnings beat and material guidance upgrade provided a clear catalyst for the market to reassess the company's earnings trajectory. The company's shareholder return policy also provided support for the stock; Safran reported it had repurchased approximately 2.6 million of its own shares for a total of €804 million during the first half of the year.
