QumulusAI Stock Tumbles 15% Despite $241 Million Nvidia GPU Contract Announcement

Summary
Shares of QumulusAI reversed sharp premarket gains to fall 15% after the company announced it secured new three-year contracts valued at $240.9 million for Nvidia's advanced Blackwell B300 GPUs.
Shares of QumulusAI Inc. (NASDAQ:QMLS) fell 15% in early trading Tuesday, erasing an identical premarket gain, after the company announced it secured $240.9 million in new contracts for advanced Nvidia GPUs.
The agreements, which span three years, are for the supply of more than 2,000 Nvidia Blackwell B300 GPUs to two existing artificial intelligence inference customers.
Contract Breakdown
The new deals expand on relationships QumulusAI first established in July 2026 and bring the total contracted commitments from the two clients to more than $344 million, according to the company's announcement.
- The larger contract is valued at $211.9 million over three years with an AI inference platform that deploys large language models. The capacity is scheduled for delivery in early 2027.
- The second contract is worth $29.1 million over three years with a generative-AI inference platform for developers. This capacity is expected to be delivered in December 2026.
Financial Outlook
AdThe agreements include extension options that could increase their total potential value to $401.6 million over a five-year period. The larger contract has two one-year options valued at $70.6 million each, while the smaller one includes a two-year extension option worth $19.4 million.
CEO Michael Maniscalco stated that AI inference platforms are planning capacity requirements years in advance. He noted this allows QumulusAI to "place GPUs against signed contracts rather than forecasts," suggesting a more secure capital expenditure strategy.
Market Reaction
The sharp reversal in QumulusAI's stock price suggests a "sell the news" event, where investors who anticipated the positive announcement took profits once it was made public. The initial 15% premarket rally was completely erased as the market opened, with the stock then falling by the same margin in a volatile morning session.
