Legrand Stock Surges After Raising Long-Term Targets on AI-Driven Data Center Boom

Summary
The French electrical equipment maker significantly lifted its 2030 revenue and margin goals, citing stronger-than-expected demand from the data center sector fueled by the global AI infrastructure buildout.
Shares of Legrand SA (LEGD) surged on Tuesday after the French electrical equipment specialist unveiled significantly upgraded medium-term financial targets, driven by accelerating demand from the data center sector. The new outlook, presented at the company's 2026 Capital Markets Day in Singapore, points to sustained growth fueled by the global buildout of artificial intelligence infrastructure.
Ambitious New Financial Goals
Legrand's management detailed a new set of long-term objectives, substantially raising its previous guidance. The company now anticipates reaching revenues of €16 billion to €18 billion by 2030, a notable increase from its prior ambition of €15 billion.
The updated plan also includes a more aggressive growth and profitability forecast. Key upgrades announced at the event include:
- Organic Sales Growth (2027–2030): Lifted to an annual rate of 6–8%, nearly double the previous 3–5% target.
- Adjusted Operating Margin: Targeted to average 21–22% of revenue through 2030, up from the roughly 20% objective set at its 2024 investor day.
Data Centers Fuel Growth Outlook
AdThe primary driver behind the revised forecast is demand from data centers, which has consistently exceeded the company's internal expectations. This segment has become a critical revenue stream for Legrand, now accounting for over €3 billion in annual revenue and representing more than 32% of total group sales, according to the company.
Management attributed this structural tailwind to the ongoing AI infrastructure buildout, as the global expansion of artificial intelligence capabilities requires a massive expansion of supporting electrical and digital systems.
Market Reaction
Investors reacted positively to the news, sending Legrand shares up 6.4% to €143.45 in early trading. The rally was distinctly company-specific, as France's benchmark CAC 40 index was trading flat, according to market data from Investing.com.
The upgraded targets reinforce an already constructive view from analysts. The move marks one of Legrand's strongest single-day performances in recent memory, pushing the stock toward the upper end of its 52-week trading range.
