Informa Shares Fall After Cutting Revenue Guidance on Saudi Event Disruptions

Shares in Informa PLC, the FTSE 100-listed events and data group, fell 1.5% after the company sharply reduced its full-year revenue growth guidance. In a nine-month trading update, Informa said it now expects revenue to grow by approximately 3%, a significant cut from its prior forecast of around 6%.
Revenue Outlook Slashed
The revision is entirely due to what the company described as "renewed force majeure disruption in Saudi Arabia." These disruptions forced Informa to move its 2026 Global Health Exhibition in Riyadh to a virtual format and postpone the Cityscape Global event until January 2027.
According to the update, these changes have eliminated an expectedly meaningful revenue contribution from the Kingdom for the remainder of the year. Despite the lowered revenue forecast, Informa maintained its outlook for double-digit underlying earnings growth.
Underlying Performance and Headwinds
The company's core business showed resilience, with underlying revenue growth of 6.5% for the first nine months of the year. Its live events businesses in the Americas, Europe, and Southeast Asia grew by 8% during the same period.
AdHowever, a secondary drag on performance came from the Informa TechTarget division, where nine-month underlying revenues declined by 2%. The company noted that technology clients have been redirecting budgets away from product marketing and toward investments in artificial intelligence.
Market Context
Investor sentiment was also weighed down by several other factors. The stock continues to trade below the 860p placing price from a recent £940 million equity raise, which was conducted to help fund the £2.24 billion acquisition of Clarion Events.
A weaker broader market in London, coupled with a challenging UK macroeconomic environment of high inflation and falling consumer confidence, contributed to a risk-off posture among investors. The combination of the guidance cut, weakness in the tech segment, and the share dilution from the recent fundraising prompted investors to sell, even as the company's core earnings guidance remained intact.
