Background

BTSE Group, a global digital asset and technology provider, has officially launched a regulated cryptocurrency exchange in Indonesia through a joint venture with local firm PT Aset Kripto Internasional. The new entity, BTSE Indonesia, marks the group's strategic entry into a market with rapidly growing demand for digital assets.

Partnership and Regulatory Status

The launch was achieved by rebranding NVX, an existing Indonesian digital asset platform, under the new joint venture. According to the announcement, BTSE Group will supply the core trading infrastructure, technology, and liquidity, while the local entity, BTSE Indonesia, will manage user acquisition, marketing, and local partnerships.

Crucially, BTSE Indonesia is licensed by the country's Financial Services Authority, Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK). This designation as a regulated Digital Financial Assets and Crypto Assets Trading Operator (PAKD) allows the exchange to operate in full compliance with local laws, including customer asset protection and anti-money laundering regulations.

Market Impact and Services

The regulatory approval is a key operational advantage, enabling BTSE Indonesia to integrate with the local financial system. This allows the platform to offer essential services for the domestic market, including:

  • IDR-denominated trading pairs
  • Collaboration with local Indonesian banks and payment gateways

According to the company, the license also provides a pathway to introduce additional products, such as futures trading, pending further regulatory guidance. BTSE Indonesia will initially offer access to over 200 digital assets.

Executive Outlook

Company executives highlighted the strategic importance of the Indonesian market. "Indonesia has everything it takes to be Asia’s next major crypto hub; the population, the demand, and now the regulatory framework," said Jeff Mei, Chief Operating Officer of BTSE Group. He added that the joint venture provides "the right combination of global infrastructure and local expertise."

"With our deep local expertise and the support of a global exchange powerhouse, BTSE Indonesia is uniquely positioned to deliver a trading platform that is secure, competitive, and fully compliant with local regulations," said Stephanie Kusnadi, Chief Strategy Officer of BTSE Indonesia.
