Bitcoin's price climbed back above the $64,000 level on Friday, positioning the digital asset for a weekly gain as a rally in technology stocks boosted investor sentiment for riskier assets.

By 6:00 PM ET, Bitcoin was trading at $64,005.7, an increase of 1.2% for the session, according to data from Investing.com. The cryptocurrency is on pace for a weekly rise of more than 2%, recovering from losses earlier in the week tied to geopolitical tensions.

Market Sentiment Improves

The rebound in crypto markets mirrored gains on Wall Street, where the tech-heavy NASDAQ Composite advanced nearly 2% for the week. This correlation underscores Bitcoin's recent tendency to trade as a high-beta risk asset, moving in tandem with equities during periods of improving market confidence.

Analysts noted that a decrease in perceived geopolitical risk, alongside resilient demand for technology stocks, helped fuel the recovery. Investor focus also remains on institutional demand through U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds, which have been a significant price driver throughout the year.

Altcoins Post Mixed Results

  • Ethereum (ETH), the second-largest cryptocurrency, rose 2.7% to $1,795.14 and was up 2.1% for the week.
  • XRP gained 0.8% but remained down 2% on a weekly basis.
  • Solana (SOL) and Cardano (ADA) were down 5.2% and 6.6% for the week, respectively, despite small gains on Friday.

Circle Secures Federal Trust Bank Charter

In a significant industry development, Circle Internet Financial, the issuer of the USDC stablecoin, received final approval from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) to operate a national trust bank. The company's shares ended the day 5% higher following the announcement.

The new charter allows Circle to serve as a custodian for its own reserves and hold digital assets for institutional clients under direct federal supervision. CEO Jeremy Allaire called the approval "a defining step in bringing blockchain technology and digital assets into the core of the U.S. financial system."
